Leaders Liverpool still as big as 5/2 for title honours

CHAMPIONS Manchester United have been shortened from 6/4 to 11/8 favourites to win the Premier League title with local bookmakers following their 1-0 win over Middlesbrough at Old Trafford on Monday night.
Their next league game sees them take on Chelsea who are priced at 2/1 second favourites after they threw away two vital points at Fulham. Leaders Liverpool are available at 5/2, even though only once in Premiership history has the team leading going in the New Year failed to go on and win the league.
Struggling Arsenal are 25/1 shots and the loss of Cesc Fabregas is a massive blow for the wobbly Gunners, while Aston Villa are live 50/1 contenders after another late win at Hull.

A Diamond for Cheltenham
Already got myself a Cheltenham banker and we’re only in December.
The very impressive Diamond Harry has been cut for the Ballymore Properties Novice Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival after his bloodless victory in Monday's Challow Hurdle at Newbury.
Most local bookmakers slashed their price from 6/1 to 4/1 about the Nick Williams-trained horse after his eased-down six-length win.
Diamond Harry has now appeared on the racecourse FIVE times and has won the lot of them – the word special springs to mind.

Ted Walsh has a runner in the last race at Wolverhampton tonight.

It's called COLLINGWOOD and it seems to have a very good chance and any market support for it would be significant.

Looks like Jermain Defoe is a Spurs player again. He's having his medical today and should complete the move after that.

I must say I'm not the biggest Defoe fan and I was glad to see him go when he did but I didn't know that we would lose Keane AND Berbatov then!! But Defoe seemed to improve a bit at Pompey and if he can bring that form back to WHL then I'll be happy.

Bet's for tonights game.....

FRAZIER CAMPBELL to score first goal 7/2

JAMIE O'HARA to score at anytime 4/1

Spurs minus a goal 5/4 with Sean graham looks a great bet tonight - Modric to score first 8/1

spurs signing their own reject back...sad time for the minnows tottenham.
i must admit defoe is a scumbag.Portsmouth saved him from his spurs nightmare and what way does he repay them!

Ghanian midfielder Stephen Appiah is also training with Spurs and he looks set to sign a deal until the end of this season at least.
Stewart Downing is still our next main target and I think the deal will be done but I expect this one to roll on right until the very latter stages of the transfer window. We should also sign a centre back, possibly Matthew Upson, and a right back, possibly Glen Johnson.

Got a strong word about TERMINATE in the 3.50 at Kempton today. Dansilver is the paper fav in the race but it was 2nd to an Ian Williams (trainer of Terminate) trained horse last time out and Williams should know what it takes to beat him again today and he obviously fancies Terminate to do so.

Terminate is actually 5/2 fav now from 3/1 so the money is down. Dansilver is 11/4 from 3/1. Get on Terminate before it shortens up!!!

Glenn Johnston Liam, the word is that liverpool are in for him so if he has a choice he will only go to one team and its not spurs.as for Stephen Appiah training at spurs??? did he pack the market stall in at nutts corner? stephen who?

Gerard,

Modric for first goal is a decent bet seeing as he has been amongst the goals of late. I have opted for Frazier Campbell but it's still not certain that Redknapp will play 2 up front and if he only plays with one striker it looks certain that it will be Pavlyuchenko.

I think Spurs -1 at 5/4 and Man Utd at 4/9 would be stealing money from the bookies and looks a nice double.

Liam

Terminate & moon crystal double for me

Anonymous said...

Liverpool can sign Glen Johnston all they want but it's Glen Johnson from Portsmouth that Spurs want!!
Also, Stephen Appiah is the ex-Juventus player who was wanted by Wenger and Alex Ferguson a couple of seasons ago. You probably haven't heard of him cuz you know FA about football!! :-)

My London bookie Tony the Tap has told me that Hills have taken five figure sums on Scolari to be next manager to go was 66/1 at the weekend now 8/1 - money talks?

Anonymous said...

Gerard,

Wouldn't surprise me if Scolari was next to go, although Mark Hughes has to be close behind him!! I told a mate in work that they are 2 managers that will definitely not be at their clubs at the start of next season but it could even be earlier than that.

Chelsea play Man U on Saturday too so maybe people are getting on Scolari to be sacked in the hope that Man U beat them and pile on the pressure!!

Im sure we all missed out on the first goalscorer last night but I hope you were on my tip of Jamie O'Hara to score at anytime @ 4/1. I had £5 on Campbell to score first, £5 on O'Hara to score at anytime and a £5 double.

Spurs were poor in the first half but after a rollocking from 'Arry they pulled their fingers out and the gulf between the two clubs was shown in the 2nd half.
Wembley here we come.....AGAIN!!!

Arsenal look set to step up their bid to land Andrei Arshavin after Zenit St Petersburg coach Dick Advocaat admitted he was resigned to losing the Russian playmaker.

The 27-year-old has been a target for a number of Europe's top clubs since his excellent displays at Euro 2008, and has long been on the radar of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

However, a stumbling block may well be over the reported £20million fee and excessive wages package Arshavin currently commands.

Time for our first horse tip for the New Year..
All-weather racing suits bookmakers with horses taking it in turn to beat each other - flapper meeting my old granda use to call them..

Hopefully BONUS 11/4 can lift us today - favourite Aeroplane won with ease at Wolverhampton last time but BONUS chased home Duff in a listed event last time out

Anonymous said...

Gerard,

Bonus has a big chance today and Gerard Butler's stable is in form. The thing that worries me is that he's conceding 9 lbs to Aeroplane who is no mug.

If I was having a bet on this race, which I'm not, I'd be backing Aeroplane but I would also do the reverse forecast with Bonus.

Liam,if your granny had $%^&&$ and you know how the rest goes

Zenit St Petersberg are mad if they think any team is going to pay over £15m for Arshavin. They tried to hold Spurs to Ransom last summer by demanding £24m for a player who could turn out to be a flop in the Premiership.
If I was Wenger I would tread very carefully with this transfer!!

TEVEZ ON HIS WAY TO REAL MADRID.
A bad step down from the european champions to madrid

SAMMMY MAC

Anonymous said...

How is it a step down? The club he plays for have left him in limbo over a contract for months now so he has decided to cut his loses and move on. United didn't want to stump up the £30m fee because they wasted most of their loot last summer on sulk-a-tov. Tevez is being messed about by both Man Utd and his owner!!

Liam

How is it a step down

4 reasons

1.world club champions
2.european champions

4.charity shield winners

Wish I'd have done that bet in the 3.55!!!

Aeroplane won at 2/1 fav and in beating Bonus (9/4) the forecast paid just over £7.

I'm waiting on Stand Guard in the 4.20 at Wolverhampton for £180. I got him at 8/1 this morning.

Liam

Anonymous said...

And here's oone very good reason why it's not a bad move.....

1. THEY WON'T GIVE HIM A CONTRACT!!

Open your eyes plastic Man Ure fans!!

Liam

Stand Guard 2nd at 11/2!!

Back to the drawing board!!

Liam

Anonymous said...

open your eyes all the big nosed spurs fans---you are joint 3rd from bottom of the league but you still try and slag off the best team in the world and europe and their transfer policies when you jew boys paid 7 million more for a second rate striker in defoe than you sold him for last year.Lets put it this way,if defoe was that a good a striker one of the big boys would have made a move for him surely not a team level on points with stoke and in a relegation battle

waken up and smell the coffee Liam,Utd will no way pay Tevez (squad player just) £125,000 a week which is what the best player in europe is on at Utd.Now wonder why they will not offer him a contract yet?

Wrong again Raffo!! (As Usual)

Although the Defoe deal is worth £15m overall we actually only paid £3m for him. Pompey owed us £5m from their signing of Defoe, they owed us £1m from the Pedro Mendes deal and they owed us £2m from the Younes Kaboul deal. Plus, when Defoe signed for Pompey we insisited on a £4m sell on clause in his contract so that was knocked off his fee too.

Proved wrong AGAIN!!

Get you facts right before you start talking nonsense!!

Ha Ha, Man Ure were dire last night.

I must say I was very impressed with Derby last night. Bar the first 10 - 15mins they controlled the game and fully deserved their win and should possibly have won by more.
Nani was absolutely useless last night. How many times does he have to beat a player before sending a cross in?? Scholes was crap, Anderson was crap, Ronaldo was crap, Rooney was crap. I still fully expect Man Ure to tank Derby at Old Trafford but I'm sure Bacon face will put out a much stronger squad then.
