Zach looks great each-way bet at 81/1

TODAY (Thursday) sees the first golf major of 2009,the U.S Masters at the beautiful but tough Augusta National Course in Georgia writes our golfing guru Kevin Officer..
Irishman Padraig Harrington goes for his third consecutive major in a row and to be honest with uou the buy guy is not playing that great so far this season and gets a 18/1 pricing by layers.
A stat that needs to be looked at is that no European has won the green jacket since Jose- Maria Olazabal in 1999 ten years on will there be another European winner.
The eyes of the sporting world will be on the fit again Tiger Woods who gets a lowly quote of 2/1 with layers.
TIGER will be looking to win an amazing 15th major title and fifth green jacket.
After 9 months out for reconstructive knee surgery the 2/1 on offer is too short priced for my liking.
It only takes one mistake at Augusta to wreck a whole days hard graft. The worlds greatest golfer has returned to his normal winning ways and many people are hoping for a showdown with him and theWorld number 2 Phil Mickleson who is priced is best-priced 8/1.
So who are our naps this weekend who we think will do well and also keep on winning run going in the majors.
I have opted for two outsiders this week and advise an each way bet. Most layers are paying a quarter the odds for the top 5 finishers and if you shop about some bookies are going each-way for a top 6 finish .
I think this years Masters will probably be won on the lightening fast greens so have went for probably the best putter in the world on fast greens. American Zach Johnson to me looks way over-priced at 81/1 with Grahams (50s) everywhere else.
Johnson is sitting 5th on the money list this season with nearly $2 million in prize money and has won the Sony Open Hawaii already this year along with a third place finish at the Arnold Palmer invitational 2 weeks ago so is definitely a player worth keeping an eye out for and thats 12/1 a place
The other player we are tipping for an each way finish this year is the in- form American Kenny Perry (66/1) who has finished in the first 10 an amazing times out of his nine starts this season. Although approaching 50 he has the game and the experience which should see him go well at Augusta.
Perry has already won the FBR Open this year and sits 4th in the money list with also around €2 million to his name.
Young Irish sensation Rory McIlroy warrants a mention after taken the golfing world by storm this year. Rory makes his debut at Augusta this weekend and although I would love the Irish kid to win but I believe history is against the Augusta debutant.
He is priced at 33/1. There has only been one first-time winner in modern times - Fuzzy Zoeller way back in 1979. So it would be incredible achievement if Rory won.
The Punters’ Guide is also putting a few pound on fellow Arsenal fan IAN POULTER who could well shock a few people and is our each-way bet at a massive 100/1 but KO told me - he has no chance.

Are you sure Zach Johnson is 81/1 with Grahams?? There is a Dustin Johnson in the field is around the 150/1 mark, could that be him?

If it is true I'll be gutted after taking 40's in Toals!!

Check out the link below. On the right hand side it says 'Masters Par 3 course holes-in-one' where it shows you the 4 players (Tim Clark, Greg Norman, Joe Perrin and Gary Player) all getting amazing hole in ones......

TF for that!! I mean taking 40's and missing out on 50's is tolerable but taking 40's and missing out on 80's is suicidal!!!

I didn't realise that but either way a great shot to get the ball in the hole from the tee-box!!

Boylesports are going 6/4 that there will be a hole in one in the tournament which I think is a great bet. Personally I reckon there will be at least 1 even though the pin positions will be much harder than were they were in yesterday's Par 3 competition.

sorry lads, 40s! Grahams on the blower giving off..

Light Yield 10/1 is our nag bet for today - well backed last time out and was going well until a bad error at the third last dashed his hopes and he was pulled-up.
jumps well today he will thereabouts!

Kieran Fallon did a few pieces of work for different trainers yesterday but he said he was "very impressed" by the piece of work he done on Luca Cumani's 1,000 Guineas hope FANTASIA. He said the filly worked with 2 colts and she was brilliant, Fantasia is around about the 12/1 mark for the Guineas.
She does run this coming Wednesday though at Newmarket and a win would see her odds tumble, although Luca Cumani has stated that she will need that run.

Audere Est Facere(c)it was a great shot mate even though it was his 3rd shot.I have had one myself .In the last hole at the wee dunmurry.Only 100 yards but a good feeling.

What about you mate?

I had a very near one at Rockmount (I think it's the 12th playing uphill towards clubhouse) which rolled to within 3 inches of the hole but never had the joy of an actual hole in one.
I was in a 3 ball last year (at Rockmount again) when a guy I was playing with did it.

Zach Johnson had a decent round yesterday finishin -2 but he should/could have finished -3 but for missing an easy putt for par on the 18th.
Tiger Woods strated really slowly but once he got going he was on fire and some of his approach shots were frightening! He also made a mess of the 18th but is still right there at -2.
