Arsenal gunning for Hull revenge on Saturday

Right folks, I need to get a few quid in the bank before I head to Las Vegas at the end of the month so it’s essential to deliver a winning soccer bet before I head off for my well-deserved winter break.
Punters GUIDE FIVEHIT
We start with our odds-on fivehit and begin with our weekend banker.
Arsenal (4/6) travel to Hull in the live Saturday evening game with one thing in mind – revenge.
The Gunners went down 2-1 to Phil Brown’s side at the Emirates Stadium at the end of September and they will be hoping to put that right come Saturday night.
We have opted for new Arsenal captain KOLO TOURE (right) for first/last goal at 33/1.
Big-spending MAN CITY (4/5) are starting to feel the heat and manager Mark Hughes knows they need a win and we think they will get three precious points at home to Wigan.
ROCHDALE (5/6) have only lost two games at home this season and they look a good punt to beat Lincoln who have lost seven out 10 games on the road this season.
Chris Coleman is doing a good job at Coventry (5/6) on a low budget and we think the Sky Blues will get the points at home to Blackpool that will put a gap between them and the relegation spots.
We have to wait to Sunday and hopefully by that stage we will be waiting on in-form DUNDEE UTD (8/13) who tackle Motherwell at Tannadice.
The Tangerines are third in the SPL and are a tough team to beat, losing only once at home all season.
Punters GUIDE QUAD
On to this weekend’s quad and we start with our weekend choices and DERBY (11//8) need to start getting points on the board and we can see them doing just that at the expense of QPR.
NOTTINGHAM FOREST (6/5) at last are starting to go on a bit of a run and we can see that continuing against Plymouth.
SOUTHAMPTON (11/10) got a priceless win at Barnsley last weekend and can build on that with a win over fellow strugglers Doncaster at St Marys.
We end this weekend’s quad in League Two and we have gone for DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE (5/4) who travel to Barnet – a win could see the former Conference side jump into the top three.
Barnet have already lost SEVEN at home this season.
Punters GUIDE XXX
We end with our draw treble and they are all in the Championship.
We are taking second-placed READING to grab a draw at SWANSEA while table-topping WOLVES should take a point at BRISTOL CITY.
SHEFFIELD UTD travel to Vicarage Road and we are banking on them taking a point off WATFORD.
All draws priced at 11/5.
The rest, folks, is up to you, as it always is!

Going back to that horse race yesterday were Topless unseated her jockey about 50 yards from the winning line when 5 lengths in front. 2 punters were waiting on Topless to complete their Tote Scoop 7 picks and if she had won it would have got them.......£194,000 EACH!!!!!

That is sickening!!!!!

Spurs offer to sign Wigan's Wilson Palacios has been "virtually agreed" according to Wigan boss Steve Bruce. The fee is thought to be around £14m which I personally think is a bit steep but that's the way the transfer market is these days. Palacios looks like a super player though and has attracted interest from Man Utd and Real Madrid.
What a deal for Wigan though, they paid £1m for this guy last year and they're selling him on for £14m.

racing looks quite dire today.

Going to have a go on David Pipe's PRINCE GEENO in the first at Chepstow. E/w bet probably, currently 10/1

Yeah, the racing is poor today.

I'm going to have a few quid on FALCONS TRIBUTE in the 3.20 at Catterick at 14/1. Not a great race and won't take much winning.

Below is the apparent transcript that has been leaked of the telephone negotiations between Kaka and Manchester City. Unfortunately the transcript is only from the City end of the call.....

"Hello, is that Kaka? How do you fancy becoming the supply line to Craig

Bellamy and Darius Vassell this winter?

"No, your fellow countryman doesn't like the cold and will be out until mid

April - but you will play alongside Stephen Ireland"

"No, Kaka, Ireland is a person not a country"

"yes, I fully appreciate that he is not Ronaldinho, Pirlo or even Beckham

but many fans have him in their fantasy football"

"I know you are currently the richest man in Italy but we can double it!"

"erm, well, we have had a bit of a slide recently and we are currently 15th"

"erm, out of 20...... but Mark Hughes once won the double for our

neighbours"

"Hughes"

"Ex Blackburn boss"

"Blackburn, Blackburn Rovers"

"No, Blackburn......Black.....Burn"

"HUGHES man, HUGHES!!!"

"He once scored a good goal against Spain"

"No, that's Gerry Armstrong..... anyway, are you coming or not?"

"Usually about two thirds full but if we play a big team it really rocks"

"yes I know, but we don't even have a car park cos all the fans walk to the

ground they are so local"

"Relevance? well, I suppose its all they have to brag about whether its true

or not"

"Only the one to be fair but its called 'blue moon' you will love it"

"Blue"

"yes, definitely blue, always has been"

"No, no, no, they are in Trafford"

"yes they are, steeped in it in fact but what good is history to you my

ambitious friend?"

"erm, 1976 I think"

"it was the er, the er League cup if memory serves me right"

"Well, the plan was to get in the top 4 this season and then....."

"yes, I realise that but....."

"Aston Villa? What's it got to do with them?"

"Yes, I know but we have been down this history route already"

"How the heck does a Brazilian playing in Italy know about Nottingham

Forest?"

"Yes, yes, and Leeds United also made a final but you are missing my point,

this is all about the future"

"Give me strength......HUGHES!!!!"

"yes I know he did and he was a legend there but he is a changed man"

"forget them, they are falling apart"

"But all those trophies were won last year! They have won nothing in 2009"

"I have told you.... 1976!!!!"

"How the heck does a Brazilian playing in Italy know that Virginia Wade has

won Wimbledon since then?"

"Yes she probably is in her 60's"

"I don't know, probably about 10 league titles, 2 European cups and countless

domestic cups what has that got to do with it?"

"76,000 why?"

"yes, every game, even minor cups I suppose, but where is this getting us?"

"Yes, the league cup is considered a minor cup over here why?"

"I know, I know, I know, ok perhaps they won the FA Cup in 1970 or something

does it really matter?"

"look, Kaka, we will treble whatever you are on now, buy you a mansion in

Alderley Edge and give you a helicopter for your front lawn....are you

joining us?"

"NO!, its owned by the council - what has the ground got to do with

anything"

"well, officially its the City of Manchester Stadium but most people call it

Eastlands"

"EAST!, not Waste"

"You will be adored there"

"No, not there, here I meant"

"No, that's Old Trafford, I meant adored here at Waste....erm, Eastlands"

"Anderson??? what does he know?"

"Ok I hear what you say, but other than Pride, Ambition, Achievement,

History, Passion and a large car park - what can they offer you?"

"what do you mean no credit left in your phone.....I phoned you"

"Hello, Mr Kaka,...... Mr Kaka are you there?............................

£240 up after them horse bets. I also doubled Miss Mitch up with Calgary Bay who was unlucky at Ascot.

I've stuck £40 on a treble in Sunday's football. West Ham to draw, Spurs and Liverpool on Monday night.

I'm starting to think about Cheltenham bets now and Clagary Bay is my pick for the Arkle. He definitely looks better over further than 2m but they always go off like scalded cats at Cheltenham and I can see him picking them off one by one and storming up the hill. I'm trying to find another horse to double him up with, possibly Denman, but I want to see how well he is IF he has a run beforehand.

Come on you Spurs!!

Liam

Punter's Guide said...

Poor punter in the Roddy's on Saturday night was waiting on Wolves to draw - what a sickener! 2-0 up and cruising! 2-2 it ended £500 they beat him out off.
Jim Sloan was waiting on Spurs for £800 and is still cursing BENT - what a miss!

any luck out there at the weekend?

I know Fred the Red had a tenner on Vidic last week at 33/1!!!!

Liverpool to win tonight?? Pressure's on for the Reds.
Greedy Bellamy will sign for City today for £15 million - the world's gone mad

Barstool

Barstool

I haven't had a Gold Cup bet yet simply because I want to see how Denman goes if he has a prep run. If Denman turns up fit and well then it's him all the way for me. Why would Kauto reverse last years run?? In my opinion he hasn't improved any since then. Kauto is a super horse but as the great Adrian Maguire said, Denman will always beat Kauto over 3m 2f at Cheltenham if they both stand up!!

Master Minded looks to be the young pretender and he has the Champion Chase all but won and he is scaring off the opposition.

Liam

Anonymous said...

Bent's miss was horrific but Zaki's was worse because he had an open goal to aim at.
Spurs created enough chances to win 3 games yesterday but the combination of David James pulling of great saves and bad finishing we were never able to kill Pompey off.

Today's horse NAP.....

This horse looks way overpriced today and his trainer is "very confident of a big run" judging by his interview on ATR.

My oul favourite BRIDGEWATER BOYS is in the same race Liam so I will be backing it e/w.

My 'NAP' of today is PENNEK in the 2.50 @ Hereford. Had been looking at it with the obvious danger being Little Shilling who is on a winning run of 6/6, but is now a non-runner so unsure what price my selection currently is

BINNOCULAR has been given a 12/1 quote by Sky Bet to win the Champion Hurdle by more than 10 lengths. Personally I wouldn't touch this bet. The mighty Istabraq won it in his first year by 12 lengths but Binnocular, although very talented, is no Istabraq. I still think Katchit is a great price. He hasn't run at all well so far this season but the horses Cheltenham record reads 6 runs 5 wins and one 2nd, I believe he is a half a stone better at Cheltenham than at any other course.

Liam

Agreed. Aintree will suit him better so may wait & back him there should he race. no denying his ability howver.

Looking ahead to the weekends FA Cup games I think the bet of the weekend is Man Utd -1 against Spurs.

Boylesports have Utd at 4/9 so -1 would be slightly worse than Evs and that looks tasty.

I think Harry Redknapp wants out of the FA Cup a.s.a.p so that he can concentrate on the League, the Carling Cup and Europe, in that order of importance and he has already said that he will not be fielding a full strength squad at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Arteta finds the net at times too! I think it's 3 in his last 3 or 4 matches.
He is an all round better player than Cahill though which is why he's linked with the likes of Arsenal and bigger clubs abroad.

Cahill was always the 'bigger name' & supposed better player at Everton but his injuries over past couple of seasons gave Arteta the chance to 'shine' & take headlines, which he has done.

Spurs have signed Wilson Palacios subject to him gaining a work permit. This is a great signing for us as the guy was wanted by Man U, Man City and a few foreign clubs too.

We are also interested in bringing Italian hot-head Marco Matterazzi in from Inter Milan. He can be a bit of a bad boy but I think Spurs need a fiery player at present which is why Craig Bellamy would have been a decent signing.

Close enough call with my double last night.

Can I ask why you would have so confidently laid my bet last night Liam?

Barstool

Anonymous said...

Watching that match last night I must admit that Spurs did not deserve the result. Burnley just simply wanted it more and after supporting Spurs all my life and watching them for over 20 years I must say that last night was one of, if not the worst performance I have ever seen.
I'm happy that we're in the final but I must say that we probably don't deserve to be there.

Liam

Anonymous said...

Barstool

Simply because I thought Spurs and the Glens wouldn't be beaten.

Like you said, it was a close call.

Liam

Anonymous said...

Well Burnley, if they had any ambition left to get to the final had to go at spurs & the 3-0 scoreline in 90mins suggested they did, didn't see the match. Thats why I backed them, too big a price.

As for Portadown, everybody seems to have forgotten about them just because they are in the championship. People dont realise they have kept their entire first team from last season, which has been a match for Blues & Glens in recent times, so were hugely overpriced IMO.

Close but not just close enough!

Good racing at Naas today...

I think you mean Gowran Park!

I'm still trying to pick a bet for Sunday's Irish Champion Hurdle on Sunday. With the ground forecast to be soft at least Brave Inca has been backed from 8/1 into 5/2 fav and previous fav Sublimity has drifted.
At the minute it looks as though I'm gonna give SIZING EUROPE one more chance. He has won on soft and finished a close 2nd on heavy so I just think that if he handles the ground he will have too much speed for Brave Inca who needs further than 2m these days. Muirhead is the danger I reckon.

Apologies....have Naas in my head as have a word for a horse running there in couple of weeks time....

I also think I will be backing Sizing Europe. Casting my mind back to this race last year (also on soft/yielding ground), ya couldn't have not been impressed with his win, hence all the hull-a-baloo come Cheltenham about him followed by the disappointment (a trend which has continued).

Gamble on Brave Inca cannot be ignored however...

Barstool

Anonymous said...

Brave Inca has a heart like a lion and will battle on all day but he is a better horse over further than 2m these days, in saying that I wouldn't be surprised if he wins. But I just think that if Sizing Europe handles the ground he will be too quick for Brave Inca. The worry though is that Sizing Europe is similar to Harchibald were he looks to be tanking along towards the end of a race yet when push comes to shove he folds.
