Pompey look value bet at 6/4

Some tasty football tonight and it's time I starting picking a few winners - Vegas beckons at the end of the month.
PORTSMOUTH (6/4) travel to Ashton Gate to take on Bristol City in a third round FA Cup replay and we think Tony Adams (pic above) can get the result that can really kick-start his managerial career at Pompey.
DONCASTER (10/11) look another good punt away at leaky Cheltenham while SHEFFIELD UTD (4/5) look tasty away at Leyton Orient. Making our Tuesday night quad up are NORWICH (1/1) who should progress to the next round of the Cup with a win over Charlton.
PG TUESDAY NIGHT XXX: Peterboro v West Brom 11/5, Kilmarnock v Aberdeen 11/5 and Birmingham v Wolves

Tuesday Horsewatch: BAAN (3.15 Great Leighs) This horse is on a long running losing streak and is due to go in - he has run twice at Great Leighs and has not been in out of the top 3 - this is a easier race and the 7/1 on offer looks a good bet.

Stayed on well to finish in the first 6 but the winner won easy, could never have backed it though!!

Backed Irish Invader at 7/4 at Thurles. Odds on fav Finger on the Pulse fell at the first fence so that made it easier!!

Keep an eye out for ODDWILLER MANYANA in the 3.15 at Thurles.

Adrian Maguire does well with horses in their first handicaps. It's priced around 12/1.

Man City are in talks with Kaka over a £175m move with his wages being around the £500k PER WEEK range!!!

As a football fan I think this is bad news. These foreign investors are ruining the game in my opinion by over inflating the transfer market, pushing out home grown youngsters and risk leaving the club in massive debt if the rich boys have had enough and walk out.

To pay a footballer, even though Kaka would be in the top 3 best players in the world along with Ronaldo and Tom Huddlestone...I mean Messi, £500k a week is pathetic.
I don't think Kaka would ever contemplate moving to Man City but when someone offers you £500k a week you would not hesitate.

Its vulgar. we hear the same old shit bout a footballers career being short but what these guys earn in 6mths wud take more than a lifetime for the average joe.It doesnt seem that long ago that Roy Keane was being crucified for asking for 50k a week. at least Keane had talent. half these guys on million pound contracts are very ordinary as far as modern footballers go.Have to admire Stuart Pearce for refusing severance money from Man City when he was sacked as he reckoned he didnt deserve it cos he didnt do a good job.

As I said, Kaka has talent and there is no doubting that but £500k PER WEEK??

There are people in this world working more than 12 hours a day doing major operations that are saving peoples lives that earn nowhere near this but in my opinion would be far more deserving of it. I son't want to get into the whole moral issue on it cuz we would be here all year but the fact is I think it is a bad move for football overall.

Glenn Roeder has been sacked by Norwich City!!

Not surprised after bein g beaten by Charlton last night. Charlton are on a 16 consecutive game (league) losing streak at the minute, I think.

Man City's assistant manager Mark Bowen has told the BBC that City are "very close" to signing Brazilian superstar Kaka. A £100m bid has been lodged and it seems that Kaka is open to the move but he has requested several get out clauses that he wants in his contract. One of the clauses is rumored to be that Man City win the Champions League within the next 2 years!! The words 'chance' and 'No' spring to mind!!

In other words if Kaka signs for them he will be leaving in 2 years time!! :-)

Amir Kahn is to fight none other than Marco Antonio Barrera. The 34 year old Mexican is a 7 time world champion at 3 different weights. The fight will be held somewhere in Britain with the venue yet to be confirmed.

Have to say at this stage I think Barrera would be nailed on!!

Barrera must have went seriously downhill or hes a junkie or gargler if hes signed to fight Khan. Khan wont fight a 'live one' for a while after that Bredis fight. Altho i saw it on sky sports myself, i wont beleive it til i see them both in the ring. The same goes for David Haye and Vitali Klitchko. Hayes mouthing off bout a fight with him and id bet a pound to a penny that if he does get a title shot,it'l be against his gunshy brother Wladimar

Backed first two winners in fiver double at Southwell and took board/screen prices 3/1 and 4/1

100 quid back

Whiskey Creek wins 11/2
Hurricane Coast wins 9/1

would have won 275 without BPs

What bookies did you do the bet in cuz both Powers and Ladbrokes (possibly Grahams) guarentee you the price against the board price!!

Barrera is definitely on the way down being 34 years old but his class and experience is worth a lot in this fight. Lets not forget that Barrera went 12 rounds with Manny Pacquiao, the world's best P4P fighter!! As well as fights with Erik Morales and Juan Manuel Marquez. He may be getting on but he is no old timer and I think he will give Khan a boxing lesson just as Bernard Hokins did with Kelly Pavlik.

Bar the age difference, another thing in Khan's favour is that Barrera is not a big hitter and he certainly won't hit Khan with the type of punches Prescott did to floor him. But I can only see one winner here and that is the Mexican. I wouldn't be lumping on though as I have a sneaky feeling that this could be a "fix" job on behalf of Warren.

Ladbrokes???

Punter's Guide said...

I take prices all the time in Ladbrokes and they don't guarantee - I know Grahams do it in certain races?

MOZAYADA goes in again! £££££££££

Gerard,

Ladbrokes definitely do, in Chapel Lane anyway.

I backed a dog yesterday and took the 3/1 show price and it won at 4/1 and I got paid 4/1.

There are also signs all over the shop saying that odds are guarenteed against BP's but NOT against early prices.

As you know though, every Ladbrokes you go into has different rules!!!!

By the time he fights Khan(?)Barrera will have had 1 fight in 2yrs and that was a beer money fight. hes also jumping up a weight (again), announced his retirement and then came back.
The brits dont do genuine fights, well very rarely. More often than not when a 'name' comes over, hes at the end of his career or hes washed up or whatever. havent said that,it wud'nt be the first time a promoter has brought a guy over to teach sum1 a lesson,
especially if theres been rows over money etc..It wudnt be the first time i seen it. Something just doesnt sit right with this.

Barrera is past his best and hasn't fought in a while but I would assume that he is still in decent nick and he would still be a very dangerous fighter especially against an over-rated Amir Khan.

Obviously Freddie Roach and co. have seen something in Khan that has persuaded them to throw him in at the deep end. We'll see come March 14th whether they were right or not.

Did anyone see the 3.50 at Taunton??

TOPLESS was 5 lengths clear with under 50 yards to go to the finish line when the jockey, James Davies, was unseated. The horse was easily going to win despite hanging left close home but all of a sudden the horse swerved to the right and unseated the jockey. Some people are claiming the jockey could have done more but that seems harsh having watched it again.

I'm also hearing that some bookies are still paying out on Topless but I'm not sure which one's.

Freddy Roach may have seen sumthing in Khan,i like Khan myself, but he cant teach punch resistance which is what Khan
is lacking.A pity really as hes a good set of hands on him. Having said that, iv seen manny pacquio
knocked sparked out twice within 3 rounds and nobody calls him chinny.
Its just the fact that this Barrera match is made so soon after Khans defeat that sumthin just doesnt sit right

P.S. Forgot to mention that Barrera fought some mexican roadsweeper 2 months ago,his first at lightweight.
