Countdown begins to South Africa

Striker Scott McDonald, defender Jade North and midfielder Nick Carle have been axed from Australia's squad for this summer's World Cup in South Africa while France coach Raymond Domenech says the 23 players he has in camp at Tignes will make up his squad for the World Cup in South Africa.

Liverpool's Maxi Rodriguez scored twice as Argentina continued their preparations for the World Cup with a 5-0 victory over Canada.
Nigeria have played down fears over the fitness of John Obi Mikel, who is recovering from a knee injury less than three weeks before the start of the World Cup.
Park Ji-Sung and Park Chu-Young scored as South Korea beat fellow World Cup qualifiers Japan 2-0 in a friendly international on Monday.
Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra will rest for up to 10 days as he sweats over his fitness ahead of the World Cup finals in South Africa.
Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz scored the only goal as Paraguay earned a late win over fellow World Cup hopefuls North Korea in their friendly in Nyon.
Ronaldinho and Adriano will both miss the World Cup in South Africa after being omitted from the 23-man Brazil squad named by national coach Dunga.
Portugal's World Cup preparations got off to a miserable start as they were remarkably held to a goalless draw at home to African minnows Cape Verde they were 1/33...
