The bookies as usual raked it in at the weekend after the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd let a lot of punters down, but one punter was celebrating. This story comes via a black taxi driver who is a very reliable friend of the Guide.
The lucky punter in question was in the front seat of the cab on Sunday afternoon (no doubt going into town to plan how to spend his pre-Christmas windfall) and he told the driver he had had a bit of luck at the football that weekend.
The jovial front-seat punter told the driver he had placed a £2 correct score double on the big games on Saturday and could not believe his luck when they came in. Pulling the docket from his pocket he showed the driver his bet – and what a great bet it was.
He took Chelsea and Everton to draw 3-3 at odds of 50/1 and had £102 riding on a correct score in the late kick-off between Man Utd v Aston Villa.
The punter took Martin O’Neill’s outsiders Aston Villa to win 1-0 at the home of the Premiership champions, and, as we all now know, they did just that at odds of 12/1. Our punter had scooped £1,306 right in the mouth of Christmas – what a cracking bet, a 653/1 double. And all for a two-pound coin. It’s the stuff that dreams are made off. Just don’t ask me how he picked it.
Back to the PG and yet again we returned to the winner’s enclosure with another 11/1 draw double. To be honest I was cheering Liverpool on against my beloved Arsenal on Sunday – only for the last two minutes mind you, but it wasn’t to be a XXX christmas bonus.
Punters’ Guide QUAD
We begin with our weekend quad and start in the Championship where Cardiff (1/1/) will look to make it three wins on the bounce. Dave Jones’ in-form side are our first team down in our weekend quad to beat Leicester at home.
Staying in the Championship for our next selection and we have opted for hard-to-beat IPSWICH (6/4) as our next selection as Roy Keane’s team try to build on last week’s win over Blackpool. We think they can grab another three points at Scunthorpe.
NORWICH (11/10) have been a different team under Paul Lambert and they can keep the good run going with a home win against Huddersfield.
Making the PG Quad up are ROTHERHAM (1/1) who can follow up on last week’s 4-2 win at Bradford with another three points at the expense of Dagenham
Punters’ Guide FIVEHIT
On to the PG FIVEHIT and high-flying NOTTINGHAM FOREST (8/11) are our first team down in our odds-on accumulator and they should take all points at the City Ground against Preston.
GILLINGHAM (8/11) should beat basement club Stockport with ease while leaders ROCHDALE (4/5) look another home banker against Shrewsbury.
CHARLTON (4/5) can continue their good run and keep the pressure on Leeds with a derby win against Millwall at the Valley and making the fivehit up are in-form ASTON VILLA (1/2) who can make it three wins in a week against Stoke.
Punters’ Guide XXX
Finally, on to our draw treble and we start in the Premiership in the XXX.
BLACKBURN take on Spurs at Ewood Park. This looks a tight one to call and the draw looks the bet here.
BLACKPOOL are a hard team to beat at Bloomfield Park and WEST BROM will find it tough going; we have opted for a draw in this one.
Making the draw treble up is the visit of SHEFFIELD UTD to Loftus Road to take on QPR and this game for me looks the banker draw of the weekend – again Sean Grahams price it at 12/5. Remember those important doubles as well, folks.
Horse Racing:-
Diamond bet for Long Walk
Great racing at Ascot this weekend with the feature, the LONG WALK HURDLE, looking a cracking contest.
World Hurdle champion Big Bucks is in the line-up and takes on the young pretender to his throne, DIAMOND HARRY.
Both horses absolutely bolted up on their seasonal re-appearances, but we are taking Harry at 10/3 to upset the 8/15 on the jolly.
SEan Graham Bet: Big Bucks 8/15, Diamond Harry 10/3, Karabak 12, Fair Along 16, Lough Derg 16, Whiteoak 20, Katchit 25, Sentry Duty 25, Kayf Aramis 33, Sweetheart 66, Viper 100.
We have the Ladbroke HANDICAP HURDLE up next on Saturday and it looks like a lottery. We have put two up for this listed event and HARRY TRICKER leads the early week market in this one after his Greatwood Hurdle second to Khyber Kim. That looks the pick of the form and he should be thereabouts come Saturday.
FAIRYLAND from the Nicky Henderson yard won well at Newbury last time and is another horse who has a big chance on Saturday, but it’s a tough race to crack and hopefully we get a run for our money.
Sean Graham Bet: Harry Tricker 6, Pepe Simo 7, Stravinsky Dance, Get Me Out Of Here 8, Fairyland 10, Know The Law 10, Zabeel Palace 10, Frontier Dancer 12 , Mamlook 12, Ronaldo Des Mottes 16. Others on offer.

To 'keep the red flag flying'. no harm to ya mate but you would think that you actually played for Utd the way your getting on. Im a Utd man myself but would prefer to show a little class and let my team that i support do their talking on the pitch and in the trophy room. its that kinda shit that gets us a bad name.
