Punter cries foul on price changes

PRICE CHANGES
• Letter

I have a complaint about local bookmaker, Paddy Power, Suffolk Road, who seem to be able to change prices at will, without any notice to customers.
I placed a multiple bet last Saturday on the first goalscorers in five football matches. Three of them were correct and I had a winning treble up – according to the prices I took from their correct score coupon I had a treble of 6/1, 11/2 and 4/1, totalling odds of just over 226/1. However, when I went to get paid out I was only given odds of 188/1 and told that the prices had changed and that 11/2 was 5/1 and 4/1 was 7/2.
While the money involved was not significant it is the principle that is at stake – correct score coupons were available showing wrong prices and there was no notices up to make customers aware of any changes – the teller simply said they paid according to the prices on their computer. The printed coupons should have been changed or removed altogether.
This is not the first time that this has happened to me in this bookmakers. I placed a bet on a golfer to win the British Open two years ago at 33/1 (taken from their own screen) but was only paid at 30/1 when the golfer triumphed – again I was told that this was what the computer had recorded.
Sorry, but the computer only deals with data input from Paddy Power staff.
Paddy Power makes a great fuss of telling us how good and how competitive they are – why then are small local bookmakers able to offer better odds on a wide variety of sports? Example: Rory McIlroy win the Dubai Open – Powers 9/1, McCleans 12/1.
Cut out the gimmicks and be square with customers.

i myself got stroke is well this weekend.done a £30 five timer on grahams coupon norwich,coventry,crusaders-2,coleraine-2 and fulham. won £857 plus bonus of £82,bringing upto £939. or so i thought,to my anger they refused to pay me my bonus because there was 2 handicap matches in the bet, even though it says nothing on the coupon about it.the only stipulation on the coupon is that you have to have a treble or upwards. phone head office twice and they said the bonus is only paid out on 90 minute match betting. absolute joke, just another example of the bookies stroking us !
