BANKERS STROLL ON

• PIC ABOVE: THE VIRTUAL MAN: Kieran Sloan fancies his team to beat The Bru Crew this weekend

THE impressive BOUCHER BANKERS  eased into the quarter-final draw with an easy win against the Royal Boys who yet again failed to deliver.
Joining them in the hat for the quarters are the DVLNI guys who just about got the better of the Boys from the Blackstuff after both teams secured two winners, but the 2007 champions go through on the ‘price’ rule.
BMG PRINTERS v
THE BRU CREW
The beaten finalists last year, the BMG Printers, take on qualifiers The Bru Crew in what looks a potential banana skin for the printers.
Kieran ‘Virtual’ Sloan leads the inkspots this year and expects a big showing from the boys in blue.
“We are on top of our game at the minute, and in fact between us we got eight football bets at the weekend and I think there is more to come.
“I’m keeping faith with Kevin ‘The Charmer’ McCabe, Conor ‘Trap 6’ Vernon and Bo ‘Ruffle Bar’ Morrison.
The BRU CREW are led by legendary punter Decky Sturgeon, who has gathered a high-class punting team for this year’s assault with Paul Kearney, Peter McKay and Feilim Eagleson all called into the team for the weekend challenge.
“We ended the feeble challenge of those so-called bouncers from the Strand and it looks another walk in the park for us at the weekend,” said Decky this week.
BMG PRINTERS: Coventry 5/4, Sheffield Weds 2/1, Ipswich 9/4, Cardiff 6/4.
BRU CREW: Celtic 2/1, Spurs 10/11, Wigan 13/8, Barnet 8/11.
SQUINTER LOVES TREVOR  v
GLENHILL COUNTER BOYS
Squinter had seasoned punters Conor ‘Snake Eyes’ McLaughlin and Anthony ‘Hit Me’ Neeson missing in the qualifiers when his team hosed up against the Antrim Punters, but now they’re back alongside Ed ‘All In’ McGinley and looking to get a run up the inside. “I don’t know where I’m going to place this bet because I’m barred from every pitch on the road,” said Squinter.
The Glenhill Counter Boys are a betting force to be reckoned with – I should know as I was in Vegas with team captain Charlie Murray back in February.
This guy was cool, calm and collected on the blackjack tables and was even more lethal on the dance floor.
He keeps faith with captain Eamon ‘The Scouser’ Kyles and Seamy ‘The Worst Golfer in Ireland’ Dobbin. Charlie has promised to take Squinter’s boys to the cleaners and says he’s open to big side bets for this one.
GLENHILL COUNTER BOYS: Bournemouth 6/5, Bury 11/8, Liverpool (draw) 11/5, MK Dons 6/4.
SQUINTER LOVES TREVOR: Rest of the draw: Wolves (1/1), Blackpool (13/5), Chelsea (11/10), Notts Co.
Rules: If you fail to get your selections in on time, you will face elimination from the competition. We have back-up teams ready to take your place if such an event rises. Remember, it’s not the amount of winners you get on the board, it’s all down to the prices.
The draw for the quarter-finals takes place this Monday and the quarter-finals will be begin weekending October 24. Watch this space.

Celtic beat the five-hit! Ah well on the weekend action!
FOLKS, I see a trend developing here. Squinter, or Joey The Moose as we now know him, slept in at the weekend and missed the Everton kick-off at 12.45. So he declined to do the PG Quad and what happens? It touches for the first time this season and it was the first time he had failed to be on it.
We have begged him to stay away from backing the quad this week – let’s hope he does.
In fact out of our 12 predictions last week we had NINE winners. The Quad came up at odds of 16/1 and in Monday’s all-new PG we urged punters to back Man City to win 3-1 and they did just that at odds of 10/1. So can this dreamy run continue? Lets hope so!
PG XXX
We start with our draw treble and the biggest match of the weekend (except if you are a Rangers or Celtic fan) at Stamford Bridge where Chelsea take on Liverpool in what looks a mouth-watering battle.
Chelsea go into the game on the back of their first league defeat of the season at Wigan and the big question is, can they bounce back?
They take on a Liverpool side who are bang in form in the Premiership with striker Fernando Torres looking the best striker in the world. After his unsteady start to the season the Spanish striker has five goals in the last two Premiership games.
A hard one to call, this game, and we are sitting on the fence and backing the draw at 11/5 as Liverpool try and get back on track after Tuesday’s defeat in Florence.
Roy Keane can’t buy a win at the moment and we think that will continue at Oakwell when his Ipswich side pay a visit to Barnsley – another X for this one.
We stay in the Championship to make our draw treble up this week and have opted for a draw at Vicarage Road where CARDIFF pay a visit to WATFORD in what looks another tough one to call.
Remember those doubles and treble!
PG QUAD
On to the weekend quad and we start with our weekend knocker, BURNLEY (5/4), who are a very hard team to beat at Turf Moor, picking up maximum points from all their home fixtures, and can beat Birmingham in what could be a pivotal match for both teams.
WEST HAM (5/4) need points on the board and quick and should take all points against Fulham at Upton Park.
CELTIC (2/1) travel to Ibrox in the first Old Firm game of the season and can extend the lead to seven points over their fierce rivals with a win at Ibrox. Rangers have failed to find the net in their last three SPL games and will have it all to do against the Celts, and Tony Mowbray’s men get our vote in this one.
LEEDS (1/1) take on Charlton in the top of the table clash in League One and we think they can extend that lead at the top with a win.
PG FIVEHIT
We just missed out on our Fivehit last week with West Brom letting us down, so let’s hope we can go a step closer this week.
NEWCASTLE (8/13) are absolutely flying in the Championship and they kick-start our five-timer against Bristol City.
MOTHERWELL (8/13) can bounce back from their weekend blip against Hibs and take all points at home to Falkirk.
BARNET (8/11) are in good form and should see off Grimbsy, while CHESTERFIELD (4/5) look too strong for Accrington Stanley.
Making up this weekend’s Fivehit are EVERTON (4/6) who can continue their good run with a win at home to Stoke.
We’ve given you the teams – the rest is up to you.

AN absolutely fantastic weekend of racing ahead with the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on Sunday. But before the main event we have a great three-day meeting at Newmarket to sort out.
We start at racing headquarters today with the Group One Electrolux Cheveley Park Stakes (2.30) and the Brian Meehan-trained LADY OF THE DESERT looks the one to be on judged on her last two wins when she hosed up at Ascot and York. She looks a cut above the rest in the race and gets a 9/4 early moorning quotation.
On to the Group One Shadwell Middle Park Stakes (3.05) and what a line-up we have for this one, with the unbeaten AWZANN and ARTIC locking horns and something has to give on Friday. But we fancy the Mark Johnstone-trained horse to beat off Tracey Collins’ unbeaten stallion – just.
On to Saturday and we start with yet another Group One – the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes and 2000 Guineas heroine Ghanaati leads the betting in this one at around 6/4 – the last run saw her finish third behind Rip Van Winkle at Goodwood so the form is there. But Strawberrydaiquiri is on an upward curve and could be a live danger on Saturday and gets a 4/1 pricing for the race.
Next up is the puzzling Totesport.com Cambridgeshire Heritage Handicap (3.40) and after much deliberation we finally got it down to two horses. Our first selection is the David Lanigan-trained WANNABE KING who is on a four-timer after wins at Windsor, Epsom and Ripon, and he looks a big player at 20/1.
The other horse to catch our eye in this race was the David Simcock-trained BUSHMAN who knows how to win at this track and chased home Confront in his last outing – the 16/1 looks good value.
On to Sunday and we have the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp where the big question is, can the great Sea The Stars keep that unbeaten tag this season?
Up to now, Sea The Stars has won five Group 1 races this season from a mile to a mile and a half. Those include two Classics – the 2,000 Guineas and the Derby – as well as the prestigious Eclipse Stakes at Sandown, plus the 10-furlong championship events at York and Leopardstown. His only defeat in eight races was on his debut at The Curragh in July last year, when he finished fourth.
Aidan O'Brien still has plenty of options as he bids to topple John Oxx's brilliant colt for the first time this season, with Fame And Glory the main danger.
Sir Michael Stoute has left in Spanish Moon and Conduit, while Dar Re Mi has, as expected, also been left in the contest but we think come Sunday afternoon we’ll be seeing Stars at Longchamp and Irish eyes will be smiling.

'The odds on Harry Redknapp being the next managerial departure in the Premier League have been slashed after a flurry of mysterious betting.

Sky Bet have cut the odds on Redknapp leaving White Hart Lane from 66/1 to 25/1 to 11/8 and finally to evens after a steady stream of betting on him making an imminent exit. '
