Gunners look tasty at 9/5

The quarter-final first legs of the Champions League/UEFA CUP are this week and if you are a supporter of the Big 4 in the Premiership, then's it squeaky bum time. We have picked a selection every night which works out at 17/1!
Champions Man U take on Porto at Old Trafford and the 2-5 on is no value, not in my book though the Reds should take a first-leg lead to Portugal. ARSENAL (9/5) travel to Spain to take on Villarreal and I have a sneaky feeling that the Gunners will win out there. They have Fabregas (pic above) and Co back and could be hitting their peak at the right time.
Wednesday night sees the all-Premiership clash between LIVERPOOL and CHELSEA and I can see the Blues grabbing a draw here - priced a 2/1. Barcelona (8/15) are again like UTD too short for us but they should win against Bayern Munich who lost 5-1 at Wolfsburg on Saturday.
HAMBURG (11/10) must be taken to beat bad-traveling Man City on Thursday night and hopefully that can complete the treble for us..

I don't think Bayern Munich will be a pushover for Barca, even though they got tanked at the weekend. I think they are the dark horses in these latter stages and could suprise a few!!

Earlier we told you of Victor Chandler's reluctance to take on Tiger Woods at the US Masters (see 0950 update), but that's not the position Sky Bet are taking.
The Harrogate-based firm have gone 9/4 from 15/8 about Woods in a bid to attract some cash.
They are also taking on second favourite Phil Mickelson, who has been pushed out from 15/2 to 9/1 ahead of Thursday's first round.
Sky Bet have, however, seen early money for Englishmen Justin Rose (50/1 from 60/1) and Ian Poulter (66/1 from 80s). Big-hitting Alvaro Quiros also been backed down to 175/1 from 200/1.
However, Sergio Garcia has been pushed out to 35/1 from 33/1 after finishing last of those that make the cut at the Shell Houston Open in Texas at the weekend.

I don't buy this theory that Agusta suits the big hitters. Obviously it helps if you can hit the ball far but accuracy is more important at Agusta in my opinion. Zach Johnson won the 07 Masters yet I can drive the ball further than him but he was extremely accurate and played it safe by lying up on all the par 5's over the 4 days.
I still can't see a European winning it but I think Rory McIlroy will have a good tournament and could sneak a place!

Too early for HAYEMAKER
David Haye will challenge world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko at German football club Schalke 04's stadium in Gelsenkirchen this summer.
Englishman Haye, the former undisputed cruiserweight world champion, takes on Germany-based Ukrainian Klitschko for the IBF and WBO world titles on June 20.
He had originally hoped to stage the match at a London football ground but made the concession during negotiations to secure the fight.
And it was confirmed on Tuesday that the showdown will take place at the impressive Veltins Arena, which has a retractable roof that could be used in the event of bad weather.
The stadium - formerly known as the AufSchalke Arena - was used in the 2006 football World Cup and has nearly 54,000 seats plus additional seating on the pitch for a boxing event.

Denman 20/1 for next years National!!??

I'd be looking at least 50's before even contemplating having a bet!! The horse is not the same since his heart operation and I don't think he ever will be.

I would be searching for a price now for Denman NOT to run in next years National and that would be the bet I would want!

I would have a few quid on Black Apalachi for next years race as he was enjoying himself out in front when falling at Bechers.
Character Building looks a decent bet for the Scottish National.

Mastercraftsman would be my choice for the 2000 Guineas and Cuis Ghaire for the 1000.

If accuracy is more important at Agusta than anything else Audere Est Facere how come Woods has won it 5 times and he is one of the most wayward drivers on tour.

The way to win at augusta is there for all to see.So what if you drive the ball bad.Its not the british open where you will end up in 2 foot of rough. If your iron play is good and especially your short game(chipping and putting) you will be in with a chance.

The Par 3 contest takes place at Augusta today and if you're into your statistics, no player that has won the Par 3 contest has went on to win the Masters itself!

I hope Zach Johnson has a mare of a round in the Par 3 contest!!!!

Tiger Woods continues to drift at the head of the US Masters market. He was as short as 13/8 at one stage but some bookmakers are prepared to take on the Tiger and he is available at 9/4 in some places. They are also prepared to take on 2nd fav Phil Mickleson too who is available at 8/1 in places.

Amir Khan gets World Title fight..

Amir Khan will step up a division to light-welterweight and challenge for Andreas Kotelnik's WBA world title.

Fresh from his win over Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera last month, Khan gets his opportunity on June 27 at a British venue to be confirmed.

Khan said: "This is the best news that I could have received.

"To fight for the world title in only my 22nd fight and at the age of just 22 is fantastic. (Promoter) Frank (Warren) has done a great job getting the world-title fight for me in Britain and now I have to go out win it."

He added: "I've seen Kotelnik a few times and I've always been impressed by him, but once my trainer Freddie Roach works out the game plan to beat him it's my job to execute it on the night as I did effectively against Barrera."

Announcing the fight, Warren said: "This is the moment that Amir has been waiting for and I'm delighted to deliver him the opportunity.

"Amir put in a sensational performance against a three-time world champion and future Hall of Famer in Barrera in only his 21st fight and now he has to produce the same form against Kotelnik who is a good, hard fighter."

Khan has campaigned predominantly in the lightweight division, winning the Commonwealth, WBO and WBA Intercontinental titles, but he moved up to 140lbs for an IBF Intercontinental title fight in December 2006 to beat Rachid Drilzane.

Kotelnik, who is from the Ukraine and based in Germany, is well known in Britain having fought here three times - in 2005 when he lost a European title fight against Junior Witter; in 2007 when he held then-WBA world champion Souleymane M'Baye to a draw; and last year when he beat Gavin Rees to win the WBA belt.

Since defeating Rees he has made two successful title defences against Norio Kimura and Marcos Rene Maidana, both on points. He has never been stopped in 34 fights.

Like Khan, he won an Olympic lightweight silver medal in his amateur days.

With Khan stepping up to 140lbs, he is now fighting at the same weight as fellow Briton Ricky Hatton.

Hatton fights Khan's training partner Manny Pacquiao in May

Great touch from a punter from Limerick! £5 SEVENTEEN timer. Was waiting on birmingham on monday. started to wobble when birminghams captain Lee Carsley was sent off. they ended up winning 2-0. His winnings? 670,000 euros!!!
What made it all the more sweeter was that when he went to place the bet, the computers were down because of all the grand national bets. The girl at the counter told him this and he threw it in the bin. As he was walking out,the computers came back on and the girl shouted out to him so he went over and fished it out of the bin.Great story. The guy was also on protective notice in work. What a touch! great result for utd last night. ha! great result for liverpool too.
