Last-gasp goals were the order of the day last Saturday with Man Utd and Chelsea getting local punters out of jail, but in all in all it was another frustrating weekend for the Guide
Punters GUIDE QUAD
It’s FA Cup weekend and that’s where we start with our our weekend banker and we have opted for WEST HAM (1/1) who travel to giant-killers Hartlepool where we expect Gianfranco Zola’s in-form team to dispose of the plucky League One outfit.
BIRMINGHAM (5/4) have lost their way in recent games but can bounce back with a win at Blackpool.
LEEDS (13/10) have been a bit of bookie’s team this term but we are taking one more chance with them at home to Peterboro.
Making the quad up are QUEEN OF THE SOUTH (6/4) who take on Partick at home and we’re banking on them taking all points – the quad pays a handsome £129 for a fiver.
Punters FIVE-HIT
Moving swiftly on to out odds-on fivehit and we begin with in-form MOTHERWELL (4/5) who should take three points at home to Falkirk. CHESTERFIELD (5/6) have hit form and should see off Morecambe while leaders ST JOHNSTONE (4/5) look a solid choice at home to Dunfermline.
BRECHIN (5/6) can bounce back to winning ways at home to Peterhead and making this week’s fivehit up are PORTSMOUTH (8/11) who should take care of Swansea in the FA Cup.
Punters GUIDE XXX
On to our draw treble and we start with ties in the FA Cup fourth round. We think these games will go to replays, starting at the Stadium of Light where Sunderland and Blackburn lock horns. Middlesboro travel to Wolves and that looks another tough one to call. We go to the Scottish First Division to make the draw treble up and have taken Ross County to grab a point at Dundee.
All draws priced at 11/5 (doubles and treble please).
PG OUTSIDE DOUBLE
We have opted for a big outside double this weekend – ABERDEEN (7/2) trounced Celtic at the weekend and we are taking them to make it a Old Firm double.
HEREFORD (7/2) won 5-0 at home to Oldham last week but Walsall will be a easier game for them.
The rest, folks, is up to you, as it always is!

Punter sings Blues after copping a loss
Spare a thought for the Antrim Road punter who placed an £300 TEN-TIMER at the weekend soccer with the majority of his games in the Irish Cup fifth round.
The North Belfast punter picked all long odds-on chances, ranging from 1-3 to 1-20 – what some punters call in the betting trade call “stealing money”.
Two of the games were abandoned at half-time so our punter was now on an eight-timer and going into the last few minutes he had six winning and two drawing. Then Chelsea scored that late, late winner – SEVEN UP and he was waiting on 1-20 shots Linfield at home to the PSNI for a sum not unadjacent to £4,000.
We know the rest, with the Blues failing to break down the junior side and also breaking our punter’s heart in the process. Remember, no stealing money, not in this game, folks.
On to a luckier story and local punter Jimmy Maxwell was celebrating on Saturday after claiming a lovely £2.50 quad on the horses.
A very experienced punter, Jimmy picks four quads out every Saturday and places £2.50 on each. He hadn’t touched in four years, but Saturday changed all that.
His first horse, Songe (7/1), got the bet off to a winning start when grinding out a win in the first at Haydock – the £2.50 quad was now a £20 treble. CLOUDY LANE (6/1) won the Peter Marsh in a photo and Jimmy now had a £140 double running. The sweat was on and the next selection was at windy Naas where Topofdemornintou (5/1) ran out a game winner after looking well beaten going over the last.
Jimmy had a massive £940 riding on his last selection and he was sweating buckets.
JESSIE’S DREAM (3/1) was running at Naas and hacked up in the finale under Patrick Mullins to give our breathless punter a magical £3,360 payday, and all this with a modest £2.50 bet. Worth waiting on, Jimmy? You betcha!

The Pittsburgh Steelers are the the short-price favourites to beat the Arizona Cardinals in the Super Bowl (Sunday, February 1) after the pair claimed their respective conference crowns at the weekend.
I’m in Vegas for the final so I’ve a big interest in the outcome and have consulted my inside man John Ferris who is on the Steelers at a pre-seasong 25/1.
The bookies see only one winner when the pair square up in Tampa, with the Steelers 4/11 across the board and the Cardinals on offer at 9/4 with Sean Graham Bookmakers. The Vegas handicap line gives Arizona a 6.5pt start, even though they were also underdogs for their first three play-off games – my money is on the Steelers in the handicap at 1/1.
american football is almost as boring and pointless as cricket or listening to Liam. id rather watch paint dry

Tottenham have signed defender Pascal Chimbonda from Sunderland, manager Harry Redknapp confirmed on Monday.
It is a return to White Hart Lane for the French international, 29, who made 16 appearances for Sunderland following his move from Spurs last summer.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp said: "I'm delighted to have him. He can play in any of the back four positions."
Wigan originally signed him from French side Bastia before his first move to Spurs in August 2006 for £4.5m.

Ricky Hatton's light-welterweight fight with Filipino Manny Pacquiao is definitely on, BBC Sport understands.
Hatton's lawyer Gareth Williams has told BBC Sport than an agreement was confirmed at the weekend.
A press conference later in the week will announce full details of the fight's date and venue.
The news follows weeks of uncertainty with Pacquiao's camp reportedly wanting a 60-40 split, however Hatton's camp insists he will get an equal share.
Pacquiao, 30, is currently regarded as the world's best pound-for-pound fighter, a status he confirmed by beating Oscar de la Hoya in December.
The fight, which is expected to take place in Las Vegas in May, had been in danger of collapsing earlier this month.
But last week Golden Boy Promotions chief executive Richard Schaefer, negotiating on Mancunian Hatton's behalf, confirmed a signed contract from the Philippines had been received.
On Friday, Pacquiao's promoters Top Rank had declared that the fight was back on.
And Williams confirmed to BBC Sport on Monday that everything is in place and an agreement has now been reached.
