Is IT just me or is this football betting lark getting harder?
No Guide next week – a few pounds saved for our readers, I hear you cheer.
The PG heads out to Las Vegas on Saturday morning for a well-deserved break but will be in contact from Nevada via the Punters Guide’s popular betting blog.
I tell you what, you would need a crystal ball for this weekend’s selections – as we were going to press/blog there was a full league programme going on.
It’s like backing blindly, but the way our selections have gone in the last month that could be a good thing.
Punters GUIDE XXX
We start with biggest match of the weekend and probably the biggest match of season so far.
Sometimes Reds manager Rafael Benitez’s tactical decisions bemuse even the most loyal Liverpool supporter. His post-match rant against Fergie a few weeks ago dramatically backfired and from a position of strength his suddenly misfiring team picked up just two points from a possible six while Man Utd roared ahead.
The big question is, what does he really think about Robbie Keane? Last week he left him out the squad completely and in any games the Irish striker does start, he’s inevitably subbed.
Keane’s verbal reaction on the pitch when he was subbed against Everton was probably why he was left out last Sunday, but on Tuesday Benitez hinted that Keane has a future at Liverpool. The bookmakers agree, pricing Keane at 1/4 to still be a Reds player at close of transfer window while Skybet go sixes that he is a Spurs player.
Back to that Chelsea game, and we think this one has a draw written all over it at 2/1 – a result that would richly suit champions Man Utd and their increasingly confident supporters.
The blue side of Manchester, City, travel to Stoke and we have opted for another draw here at 12/5. Struggling SPURS travel to Bolton where both sides will welcome a point and most likely get it.
Punters GUIDE QUAD
On to the weekend quad and our nap of the weekend is DERBY (5/4) who could claim their first win for new boss Nigel Clough by beating Coventry.
IPSWICH (1/1) can grab three points at the expense of Plymouth at Portman Road while HULL (1/1) can also take maximum points and end their miserable run with a home win over West Brom.
Making the quad up are runaway leaders in Scottish One, ST JOHNSTONE (11/10), who look value away at Morton.
Punters GUIDE FIVEHIT
Finally, on to our odds-on fivehit and we have gone for BRISTOL CITY (4/5) v Barnsley, CARDIFF (8/13) v Nottingham Forest, EXETER (4/6) v Barnet, BRADFORD (8/13) v Grimbsy and making the fivehit up are WYCOMBE (8/11) v Accorington Stanley.
