Horse Racing:
Chomba Womba did the business for us last week, winning at 11/4 at Wincanton and hopefully we can follow up at the Open Meeting at Cheltenham this week where the Paddy Power Gold Cup is the highlight of the three-day meeting.
PADDY POWER GOLD CUP
We start with the big one and the all-conquerering Paul Nicholls is responsible for the jolly, Silverburn, which trades around 7/2.
The last time punters saw the favourite was at the Festival when he finished fourth behind Alberta’s Run in the Royal & Sun Alliance Chase in March.
We have side-stepped the favourite at our peril and put two up against it.
JACK THE GIANT hasn’t run since January but goes well fresh and if he jumps well on Saturday then he will outspeed them on the run-in – the Nicky Henderson horse trades at around 9/1.
PG favourite ASHLEY BROOK got his jumping together in the William Hill Gold Cup Chase at Exeter last time, beating some useful types in the process and is a solid each-way bet at 25/1.
They Bet: Silverburn 7/2, Imperial Commander 7/1, Barbers Shop 10/1, Dont Push It 10/1, Maljimar 10/1, Ouzbeck 10/1, Jack The Giant 11/1, Bible Lord 12/1, Piraya 12/1, Possol 20/1, Stan 20/1, Ashley Brook 25/1, Fleet Street 25/1, Mahogany Blaze 25/1, Vodka Bleu 25/1, Yes Sir 25/1, Abragante 33/1, Il Duce 33/1, Moon Over Miami 33/1, Predateur 33/1.
Others 33s or more
GREATWOOD HURDLE
The Greatwood Hurdle on Sunday should should give us a few Champion Hurdle clues and the progressive David Pipe-trained Ashkazar leads the betting at 7/2 on his seasonal debut. As in the Gold Cup, we are opposing the jolly and have put two up against him.
BLUE BAJAN caught the eye when finishing like a train behind Sentry Duty at Ascot and will be touch fitter for Sunday’s race, so the 8/1 on offer looks a good investment.
Triumph runner-up FRANCHOEK returns to the track and looks over-priced at 20/1 for this one and he represents the real each-way bet of the race.
They Bet: Ashkazar 7/2, Rippling Ring 6/1, Aigle Dor 7/1, Blue Bajan 8/1, Chomba Womba 10/1, French Opera 14/1, Squadron 14/1, Stage Manager 14/1, Mamlook 16/1, Numide 18/1, Cuan Na Grai 20/1, Franchoek 20/1, Silver Jaro 20/1, Jubilant Note 33/1, King’s Revenge 33/1, Motorway 33/1, Pigeon Island 33/1, Premier Dane 33/1, Schelm 33/1, Wingman 33/1.
Jered and Sizing Europe look to clash on Sunday and bookmakers are finding it hard to seperate them - I'm going for fitness and JERED to win this one.
Thursday's Horsewatch: Picot De Say and Jack Doyle to win the 3.00 race at Ludlow

I bet you are relieved though that quad came up...could have been alot of worse. you are still well in profit however thats the main thing. I picked a bet out but didn't do it in the end. Would have lost anyway so thats nearly as good as a winner.
