Great racing today at Newmarket and Cheltenham, I'm off to Dundalk tonight and hopefully Monteriggioni (9.10) and Grand Opera (9.40) will be my get out jail cards in the last two.
Bankable is all the rage for the Group 3 GEORGIA STUD DARLEY STAKES (3.10) at Newmarket today but we have opted for the ultra-consistent TRANQUIL TIGER who gets an early morning 10/1 quote. FRAGANCY has already been backed for listed the LANWADES STUD STAKES (3.45) and we end with LADDIES POKER TWO who looks a good thing in the BOADICEA FILLIES STAKES (4.10).
Over at Cheltenham we have another great jumps card and the Twiston Davies/Brennan combination could be in for a good afternoon. In the big race at 3.00pm and FONT will take some stopping with Beherayn at 33/1 a live outsider.
It's JOE or FRANKIE in the IG INDEX HANDICAP CHASE (4.05) - we side with FRANKIE FIGG available at 8/1.
IT’S Champions’ Day at Newmarket tomorrow and racing punters are in for an absolute treat.
Challenge Stakes
We start the action with the first race of the day, the Group 2 Victor Chandler Challenge Stakes (2.05), opting for the Jeremy Noseda-trained ARABIAN GLEAM who bounced back to form at Doncaster, beating early week favourite on Saturday, Major Cadeaux.
The Dewhurst
On to the Group 1 Darley Dewhurst Stakes (2.35), and we at the PG have been raving about RIP VAN WINKLE all season. He should take some stopping on Saturday – the big danger could come from ASHRAM who bolted up in the Group 3 Somerville Tattersall Stakes at Newmarket last time out.
Champion Stakes
On to the big one and the Group 1 Emirates Airline Champion Stakes (3.10) where we have a hot favourite in the shape of Derby winner NEW APPROACH who gets an early week quote of 5/4.
This could be his last race for Jim Bolger and it’s hard to see anything beating him on Saturday. The PG outside bet is CITY LEADER from the very much in-form Brian Meehan yard who gets a big 50/1 pricing.
The Cesarewitch
We end with the biggest puzzle of the day, the totesport Cesarewitch Heritage Handicap (3.40) which is run over the marathon trip of two miles and two furlongs.
The betting is led by the Marcus Tregoning-trained Askar Tau at 9/2 who has won five on the bounce and aims to make it six come Saturday – he should be there or thereabouts on the form that he has shown.
We have pinpointed two for the big race. Jumps trainer Peter Hobbs likes this race having won it two-years ago with the ill-fated DETROIT CIITY. He runs LIBERATE on Saturday, last seen at Royal Ascot when he lost out in a three-way photo-finish. But he will be primed for this and the 12/1 on offer looks a solid bet.
HITS ONLY VIC has yet to run a bad race this year and looks a horse on the upgrade. The marathon slog will be right up this street and he gets a 14/1 early week quote, which is hard to turn down.
So how many selections will we get right from above?
out of a possible 15 mentioned horses....
0 - 14/1 (surely a winner)
1-3 winners 6/5
4-6 winners 8/1
7-9 winners 150/1
10-12 winners 20000/1
13-15 winners 900000000000000000000000000000000000/1
predict how many and win a £25 BET ON CHAMPIONS LEAGUE NEXT WEEK!

FOOTBALL SELECTIONS
We start our weekend PG Quad this week with – guess who – yes, thats right, SPURS (5/4) who travel to second-bottom Stoke in search of that elusive first win.
One thing Stoke do is concede goals, they have let in SEVEN at home to date this season. If Spurs don’t collect full points on Sunday I could see Ramos heading back to Spain on Monday.
Doncaster are going through the mill in the Championship and we expect that run to continue so we have opted for BLACKPOOL (2/1) to inflict more pain. READING (11/8) are the form team in the Championship and we are banking on them taking all points at Deepdale where they take on Preston.
BRECHIN (5/4) are riding high this season and my old da will be delighted with that. We are taking the league leaders to take all points at Stirling.
Punters GUIDE XXX
We hit the bar last week with our draw treble with the Latvia v Switzerland game letting us down – still an 11/1 double if you did the PG perm bet.
We start this week with the visit of Roy Keane’s SUNDERLAND to Craven Cottage to take on FULHAM – it looks a tight match in the betting and the 11/5 priced about the draw is very appealing.
Expect a battle on and off the pitch at the New Den where hosts MILLWALL take on bitter rivals LEEDS – another tight game in prospect and we again suggest the draw at 11/5.
We have to wait until Sunday for the final instalment of our weekend XXX and we go to the Edinburgh derby where Hearts travel across town to bitter rivals Hibs.
On recent form Hibs have the edge but Hearts will be up for this one and should claim at least a point and the draw at 9/4 should be taken.
Punters GUIDE FIVE-HIT
CRYSTAL PALACE (8/11) start off the week’s odds-on Five-Hit and the Eagles should take all points at home to lowly Barnsley. DERBY (10/11) at last playing a bit with Paul Jewell’s new signings starting to blend and they should win at home to Plymouth.
In-form NORTHAMPTON (4/5) can continue their good home record against Yeovil.
DUNFERMLINE (5/6) are another team playing well and expect the Pars to take three points at the expense of Partick.
Making the odds-on Five-hit up are SHREWSBURY (4/5) who will hope to bounce back after losing last week – they look too strong for Bournemouth.
In fact change that to 3...

First 2 fav's, both trained by the Chapple-Hyam family?? Both have good chances but I wouldn't touch either one. Incase you haven't noticed Jamie Spencer is on your 2nd selection and in my opinion that's like adding another 7lbs onto your horses back!! (i.e he handicapp's every horse he rides!!)
Liam
Spencer beaten AGAIN on another fancied favourite!!
Liam
actually watched that - swing on the bridle 2 out - Spencer is a weak in the finish
Neon Blue i'll have abit of that thank you very much! got on at 16/1!
