I have to be honest, our Bet of the Week stories have been very slow this while back.
The bookmakers have been getting the better of it in recent times, not only in soccer but the racing as usual has been good for them.
It’s difficult to get winners on the board at this time of year as we have the Flat season coming to a close and the new National Hunt season starting.
However, things did go the way of a couple of local punters this week and we have a few good luck stories, starting with the Andersonstown punter who took Sean Graham bookmakers for over 15 grand.
The local punter in question placed his bet last Thursday – £50 on his six selections that were all running that day. His meetings were scattered, from Brighton, Carlisle and Thurles in the afternoon to Ludlow and Great Leighs that evening.
The bet got off to a flyer when MIDNIGHT IN MAY hacked home in the first at Brighton – our punter took all screen prices so got 2/1 not the 7/4 returned.
SIEGEMASTER (6/4) made no mistake in the 2.45 at Thurles and the first three were up when TOT OF WHISKEY (13/8) trotted home at Carlisle.
Halfway there and it got closer when CHARLES STREET (10/11) got home in the 5.30 at Ludlow.
Two to go and at the all-weather track Great Leighs RUBLEVKA STAR (6/4) gave the punter the sweat of his life when he won the 7.20 – our punter had over FIVE GRAND riding on his last selection.
Our in-form lucky punter wasn’t going to be let down as SILK HALL (7/4) won as he pleased in the 8.20 race to give our punter a £15,633.11 pay-out – what a great piece of punting.
Friday night delight
A Falls Road punter also took the same firm for over 12 grand on Friday night when he placed a 30p Lucky 31 and also placed a £1 each-way accumulator on his five selections.
All his selections were at the all-weather meeting at Dundalk and he took early-screen places.
The bet got off to a flyer when MATHAR won the opener at 10/1 – our punter was on at 12s.
JALMIRA (10/3) under a brilliant Fran Berry ride made it two from two in the 7.10 and the hat-trick was complete when the well-backed LEANDROS won the 7.40 at 2/1, our punter was on at (7/2).
His fourth leg COSMIC BREEZE (8/1) got up in the shadows to give our punter an almighty sweat on the 8.40 race.
Our punter opted for the class horse of the race, BORDERLESCOTT, who travelled over from England for the race. The money was piling on this one and he didn’t let our punter down, getting home by a neck at 4/5 – our punter was on at (7/4).
Our man lifted a cracking £12,094.64 for both his bets – a great piece of betting from both our punters that left Grahams reeling. Let’s try and keep it up.
and finally a Ballymurphy punter known only as Billybob was also on the mark at the weekend.
Liverpool fan Billybob placed a £10 five-timer on Saturday and watched as all his teams came in with HULL 2/1, CARDIFF 11/8, EXETER 6/4, ROTHERHAM 6/4 and ROCHDALE 1/1 all winning.
Billybob picked up close to a grand – £890.63 with bonuses – but was still left with a sour taste in his mouth. Why?
He originally had 7/2 shots Liverpool in his bet and took them out at the last moment.
He would have picked up well over five grand if he had kept the Reds. But, still, a grand is a good result for Christmas.

Racing..
DOWN ROYAL racecourse holds the two-day Northern Ireland Festival of Racing starting today with some top-notch racing for the north of Ireland. The seasonal appearance of Kauto Star in Saturday’s Grade 1 feature, the JNwine.com Champion Steeplechase.
The former Gold Cup winner will probably go off at 1/2 and will as usual take some stopping if he jumps well – but he is prone to the odd error on his seasonal debuts.
Our advice is ignore the favourite and go out for THE LISTENER (5/1, right) who fell in this race last year but he will love the heavy going on Saturday. He loves running in the Emerald Isle and looks better value than the Kauto.
The Anglo Irish Bank Hurdle takes place on Friday and it looks a good race with Cork All-Star and Jered – a close one to call but Noel Meade’s JERED gets our vote but keep an eye on course specialists Megans Joy who is not out of this but Jered looks a class act.
The Charlie Chase is big weekend race in England. We tipped up OLLIE MAGERN (5/1) to win it last year and he obliged. With the Twiston-Davies yard in top form, expect a third win for Ollie.
As for the dangers, if ALBERTAS RUN (6/1) turns up then he will be a live danger to our selection.
Ex-Gold Cup winner War Of Attribon is expected to make the trip and is the current 11/4 favourite.
weekend soccer..
Nearly made it a week to remember for the PG, but as usual there’s always one that beats you.
Kilmarnock beat us out of our FIVEHIT while Reading beat us out of our PG QUAD – but in this game nearly is never enough.
Even harder this week to select teams as most are in action as we go to press so it’s a wee bit like betting blindly – could be a good thing, mind you.
Punters GUIDE FIVE-HIT
We start with our odds-on FIVEHIT and first team down are EVERTON (4/5) in the first live game of the weekend when they take on Fulham at Goodison (12.45 Saturday).
David Moyes’ men showed a glimpse of last season’s form at home to the champions last week and should have an easier task against Fulham.
BURNLEY (5/6) are playing well at home and beat Reading on Tuesday night. They should follow that up against bad travellers Norwich.
CRYSTAL PALACE (5/6) lost at home to Forest on Tuesday night but we expect them to bounce straight back with a win over Sheffield Wednesday.
OLDHAM (8/13) got back to winning ways against high-flying Scunthorpe midweek and should collect another three points at home to lowly Yeovil.
PETERBORO (1/2) are flying at home – expect three points for the Posh at home to leaky Crewe.
Making this week’s FIVEHIT up are MOTHERWELL (4/5) who are playing well at the moment and should beat bogey team Hamilton.
Punters GUIDE QUAD
On to our weekend quad and we start with our old faithful BRECHIN (11/8) who just keep winning and hopefully another three points beckon for the Glebe Park side away at Peterhead.
NORTHAMPTON (2/1) are playing at the top of their game and could well collect all points away at Walsall.
MIDDLESBORO (11/10) need points on the board and three beckon at home to the out-of-form Hammers.
We end our weekend quad in the SPL where we have opted for ABERDEEN (6/5) who are starting to click and hopefully their good form continues at home to Kilmarnock.
Punters GUIDE XXX
All our draws are in the Championship this weekend. We start with READING, who are on the ropes at the moment but we think Steve Coppell’s team will grab a point at BRISTOL CITY priced at 11/5.
CARDIFF are hard to beat at home and table-topping WOLVES will be hard-pushed at Ninian Park and it looks to have the draw at 11/5 written all over this one. We end with the visit of SWANSEA to lowly DONCASTER who just can’t seem to find their feet at the moment. How they would welcome a point in this fixture and the 13/5 on offer for the draw looks the bet.
Weekend 5 timer....
MIDDLESBROUGH Evs
BLACKBURN 7/4
ASTON VILLA 11/8
CRYSTAL PALACE 10/11
CELTIC 8/13

Henrik Stenson's going well!! +10 after 9 holes of his 2nd round!!
Another great pick from "the real golf fan"
Robert Karlsson is doing o.k at +3 but I can't see him winning it now.

Liam Dowie,if the 2 of us back a horse each in a 20 horse race and yours finishes 19th and mine 20th neither of us get money back.Stensen 10+ , Karlsson 3+. no difference. Both our picks are getting well and truely hammered

Raffo
Playing it safe there Raffo. Are you backing fav's ??? What a d1ck head you are son!!! Slabber about everyone else picking fav's and then you win free bet and play it as sfae as possible!!
I hope your bet get's stuffed just because your a hypocrite that talks sh1te!!!

Mr PG...
I see in your Five-Hit selections this week you have SIX selections...??
Barstool
What a nobend you are Lim Dowie.
Every man in Ireland likes to see a punter take the bookie for a few quid apart from you.You are a low life mate.
p.s... i wonder will you do my 4 teams? Now its in your head i bet you will not resist in case it touches.
Raffo
Liam(the real arse hole)
You are a disgrace
The Hoff
Raffo
You didn't seem too happy when I did the bookies for £160 after backing Garcia!! Sure I was a w***er for backing a fav!!!
You're a tosspot son and I hope your bet get's chinned. If anyone else had backed them I'd be happy if they stung the bookies but you are just a tw@t and deserve FA!!
Liam (the real one)
Liam(dowie),you are a penny gambler and not a nice guy.Bet you have no mates. What a loser you are son.
p.s i am 100% sure you will bet my quad tomorrow because it will play on your mind if you do not.
Come on admit it,you will bet that quad, you know you will
Raffo

I've backed my five teams and have posted them on here already. You don't know me, you don't know how much I bet so again your talking b@lls.
I will be delighted if your bet get's bet because it couldn't happen to a better person. You slate people for backing fav's and then because one of your pal's gives you a free bet you bottle it and play safe to try and get yourself a few quid. What a c0ck!!
You've tipped 3 golfer's in the past 3 tournaments and they were beaten out of sight, yet I, the fella that knows nothing, tipped a 66/1 each-way player that you said had no chance and a 7/1 WINNER that you slabbered to me about betting cuz he was fav.
It's obvious that you couldn't pick a bet to save yourself and you want to be one of the big boys but the fact is that your just a sad c**t that talks absolute sh1te.
I'll be on here first thing on Monday gloating about how your poxy 4 timer with 3 odds on fav's got stuffed!!
Liam (the real one)
Abit of Megan's Joy anyone in the big race at Down Royal? My wee girl called Megan so thats good enough for me! £20 on it for me.
The bickering going on in here past while is head-frying. can we not have abit of debate instead of a slabbering match?
Barstool
Liam(dowie) puntersguide is no pal of mine.

Raffo
Where's all the Pool fans today?? Harry Redknapp's Blue and White army march on!! Plus Arsenal getting beat by Stoke!! What a weekend for Spurs fans.
Arsene Wenger should really take Fabregas' advice and try fielding Arsenal's ladies team because at the minute the are probably more than capable!!
Liam
Liam,we are joint top of the league.
where are spurs?
i rest my case.
paddy the scouser
celtic with one of the best european home records the last 5 years are 4/1 against man u on wed.Too good to turn down and 2/1 minus a goal great price
hail hail
Unbeaten in all competitions until you came to White Hart Lane!!
Liverpool will do the same as they do every year and bottle it, there is no top 4 anymore it's the top 2 now of Chelsea and Man Utd.
Liam
9/2 in Grahams mate
Stable Boy
Liam, come back to me when :-
(a) spurs make it into the champions league
(b)spurs win the champions league
(c)spurs finish in the top 4 of the premiership
Paddy the scouser.
p.s.as much as i hate man utd they will be too strong for a poor celtic team.I think 4/6 is a great price for the manc scum.
League challenger's, you're having a laugh!!
Spurs 2 - 1 Liverpool
Liam
By the way Paddy. Was there any need to type a, b and c because if they did c then that covers a aswell and if they did b that would cover a and c too. I hope I explained that o.k for you!!
2-1
Liam
