The four winners this week will join the elite 12 in the final 16 which kicks off next week. The draw will be made this Friday morning in Sean Grahams head office and posted on our blog late Monday morning.
Already qualified for Fridays draw are...
(1) Chuckers Wipeouts (2) Coyles Punters (3) Bru Crew (4) Shaktar Senseless (5) Whitefort Punters (6) Dairy Farm (7) BMG Printers (8) Lisburn Punters (9) Short Certs (10) DVLNI Punters (11) Stormont 4 (12) RVH Stores.
Hoys Toys v Quad Almighty
We start with the HOYS TOYS v Quad Almighty clash. In one corwe have a betting squad made up of punters from our newsdesk led by Squinter, who was sensationally dumped from the BMG Printers team last year.
He’s licked his wounds and has now surrounded himself by some tasty journalist punters, though – Ciaran ‘Bad News’ Barnes, Anthony ‘the Neekster’ Neeson and Sports Editor Conor ‘Waterford Plus 5 Points’ McLoughlin. Squinter feels that there is only going to be one winner this weekend blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
In the other corner we have Hoys Toys who have been accused of just using this space for free advertising space, but this year Paul ‘Cheap Prices’ Donnelly has got serious.
He courted Ray ‘Safe Bet’ Hughes from the RVH Postroom team all summer and finally got his man before the transfer window closed, adding to a slick betting outfit that already includes Stevie ‘1-20’ Harrison.
Paul told the PG that a win is a formality this week – he expects Squinter and his crew to fold under the intense pressure.
Hoys Selections: Newcastle 4/7, Everton 13/10, Cambridge 4/5, Portsmouth 1/1.
QUAD ALMIGHTY Selections: Everton 13/10, Fulham 11/10, Spurs (draw) 9/4, Ayr Utd 10/11.
GLENHILL PUNTERS V BANK ON US
The Glenhill punters talked the talk last year but that’s all Charlie Murray and his team did but they are back this year fresh and eager to improve.
They take on the professional punters BANK ON US, led by JP Smyth and Gerard Crossan, who are a formidable side who have made it to the semi and quarter finals in the last two years.
“We have set out to reach the semi-final’s at least this year and give a winning quad or two on the way,” a confident JP told the PG.
BANk ON US Selections: Aberdeen 4/6, Everton 13/10, Portsmouth 1/1, Norwich (draw) 11/5
GLENHILL Selections: Chelsea 4/5, Oldham 10/11, Leeds 6/5, Scunthorpe 13/10
BRIGHT SPARKS v
THE BOYS FROM THE BLACK STUFF
BRIGHT SPARKS are a consistent betting outfit and are led by mega-punter Eric Smyth who expects to steamroller the tarmac punters this weekend.
The Boys from the Blackstuff, are led by Sean ‘Shanto’ Lawell, who hates losing at anything even though he never wins.
He is ably assisted by Kevin ‘Raffo’ Rafferty who loves going forward, reverse is a different matter! Bringing up the rear is skip Micky ‘Monks’ McStraw, who keeps Shanto and Raffo on their asphalt-sodden toes. BLACK STUFF Selections: Portsmouth 1/1, Aldershot 2/1, Hearts 6/5, Carlisle (draw) 11/5.
BRIGHT SPARKS Selections: Arsenal 5/6, Aberdeen 4/6, Bristol Rovers 1/1, Birmingham 4/7.
THE MALONES v HAWTHORN PUNTERS
The betting dynasty that is the Malone FAMILY have been here and done it all before.
They are led by their dad, Hugh Senior, and he has enlisted his betting sons David, Hugh and lucky mascot Sean.
“We are here to win it this year,” a confident Hugh told the Guide, and he added” “We will start with a winning quad, so all readers of this page lump on’.”
We had a no-show from the Bandits, so our stand-by team the Hawthorn Punters, who have a wee bit to prove this year, step in at the last minute.
The betting duo are fronted by Terry Park who is the king of the punters in the Davitts; this man never gets it wrong, bookmakers hate the sight of him.
He is backed up by that old poacher Colly ‘Turn and Shoot’ Murphy, who really knows his stuff.
This Rossa/Davitts betting duo have only one thing on their mind this weekend – picking FOUR winners.
HAWTHORN Selections: Darlington 1/1, Wolves 13/8, Dagenham & Redbridge 13/10, Bournemouth 8/11
THE MALONES Selections: Liverpool draw (12/5) Newcastle 4/7, Aberdeen 4/6, Portsmouth 1/1
