PG CUP REACHES ITS FINAL CLIMAX

Boucher Bankers and BCC Legal Eagles clash in the 2009 PG Cup Final

THE PG CUP 2009 started way back at the beginning of September and the 32 betting teams that entered have been whittled down to our finalists – BOUCHER BANKERS and the BCC LEGAL EAGLES.
Talking to the PG this week, both team captains are delighted to have made the final and both agree that it is wide open.
The BCC punters ousted the Bombardier lads, but only just, last weekend, grabbing three winners in the process and were sweating on Chelsea for a winning quad – we all know what happened there.
Team leader Joe McAuley has teamed up with his best mate, who we know only as Mr X, who wishes to remain anonymous due to his wife not agreeing with his favourite pastime.
We thought Joe would unmask Mr X for the final but he remains anonymous for the final showdown.
An upbeat Joe knows his team face a real battle at the weekend but thinks his team are peaking at the right time. “In the quarters we got two winners, then three winners in the semis, so we are due a winning quad this weekend,” Joe told the PG. “We'd also like to wish our opponents the best of luck and may the best team win,” added a sporting Joe.
BCC face a team who have eased their way through to the final and have beaten three PG Cup finalists en route to see them go into the weekend final as the favourites.
Led by JP ‘Two-Each’ Crossan, the Bankers have been the form team this year, delivering an amazing 10 winners out of 12 selections and lifting nearly £300 off Sean Grahams after delivering a 14/1 winning quad in the quarters.
“We are the form team but the BCC team are hard to beat and it will be a very close final. I think we could need a winning quad on the board to beat these guys at the weekend,” JP told the Guide.
Looking at both quads, it looks wide open. But if I was backing any of them I would side with the Bankers to steal it. These are two very good quads, however.

BOUCHER BANKERS FINAL QUAD

4/5 Man City
4/6 Leicester
11/10 Stoke
11/8 Burnley
BCC LEGAL EAGLES FINAL QUAD
7/4 Blackburn
1/1 Newcastle
4/6 Carlisle
1/2 Huddersfield

  6. West Ham United striker Dean Ashton has been forced to retire from football due to injury.

The 26-year-old has failed to recover from the ankle injury he sustained while training with the England squad in 2006.

Ashton, who was a target of Stoke City in the summer, has undergone a variety of rehabilitation procedures but none proved successful.

West Ham have now confirmed that the former Crewe and Norwich man has quit after receiving warnings regarding his full fitness and long-term mobility.

Hammers CEO Scott Duxbury told the club's official website: "This is a sad day and our thoughts are with Dean.

"I would like to place on record our thanks to him for all his efforts and wish him the very best.

"I would also like to thank the fans for their patience and understanding during what has been a difficult time."
