It’s MatchDay Four in the Champions League this week and what a massive game for Liverpool in Lyon on Wednesday night after that Fulham defeat and that’s where we start for our midweek CL Quad.
Liverpool are in serious trouble in Group E with only three points from three games so a win in Lyon is vital for the Reds and we think they can get the points and the 6/4 is snapped up but it’s vital that Torres and Gerrard play.
REAL MADRID (6/4) and Manuel Pellegrini are under pressure and they need a big win in Milan to keep the vultures off his back even though they beat Getafe 2-0 on Saturday. Both teams lead the way in Group C with six points and although a point would suit both teams Real will want revenge come Tuesday night.
STANDARD LIEGE (5/4) currently occupy bottom position in Group H and know a win in Belgium against Olympiakos can put then in a challenging position for second spot and we think they can gain three points in this one.
JUVENTUS (4/7) travel to Maccabi Haifa in Group A knowing if results go their way they could end up top of the pile on Tuesday night and hopefully folks that makes up a winning quad.
PRICE CHANGES
A few irritate punters on the phone this week about late price changes in the football this week.
To be honest this sort of thing is becoming a regular occurrence in soccer betting, whatever happened to bookmakers pricing matches up and sticking to the original prices?A punter from Twinbrook placed a soccer quad on Wednesday at 3.24 and all four teams won. When he went into collect his winnings on Thursday there was two late price changes. The price changes happened at 3.07 which infuriated our punter even more who was £32.50 out of pocket because of Ladbrokes not standing by their early week prices

Shocking denied Godolphin's Crime Scene a landmark success as he dug deep to land the Emirates Melbourne Cup at Flemington on Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteA British-based runner has yet to win the Australian Group One but Godolphin trainer Saeed bin Suroor has twice saddled the runner-up in the two-mile heat.
Despite Crime Scene leading the field into the final two furlongs, the Mark Kavanagh-trained Shocking swooped late to steal the prize by just under a length.
Ex-Sir Michael Stoute inmate Warringah was keen to make the running in the two-mile heat and he was still in front at the five-furlong point.
However, he began to toil at the top of the straight allowing Kerrin McEvoy to sweep through on Crime Scene and take it up three furlongs from home.
Brown, who had been forced to run three wide of the rail, was tracking the Godolphin runner and switched out to challenge at the two-furlong marker.
Crime Scene made a good battle of it, but Shocking just had too much petrol in the tank and became the first horse since Brew in 2000 to follow up victory in last Saturday's Lexus Stakes with success in Australia's biggest race.
Brown was gaining adequate compensation after losing out by just a nose aboard Luca Cumani's Bauer in 2008.
"Last year was very disappointing, and now I've finally won the Melbourne Cup. It's a dream come true, I can't describe the feeling," said Brown.
"I kept looking on the outside thinking something was going to flash home. Great job Mark Kavanagh and the horse.
"He travelled three deep no cover, I know he had a light weight, but he toughed it out very well."
Kavanagh added: "I didn't give him a hope in the running, he was trapped deep.
"I said halfway through, it's hard to win a Melbourne Cup, but he looked so good on Saturday, and he improved since that run.
"This preparation was timed to perfection, he came good at the right time.
"I honestly thought he just can't keep going. He was just the superior stayer on the day."
Cumani saddled Basaltico this time but he could finish only 18th of the 23 runners while Ian Williams' Munsef was 12th.
Last year's winner Viewed finished seventh under top weight.

I really hope big rogie wins...but i have a funny feelin that big sexton is 2 smart a boxer for him(by that i mean holding and time wasting)rogie is all heart and if he had not of been such a 'gentleman' this rematch would never have happened...end of the day he's in there to win fights not to b a nice guy when sextons hands went down rogie should have got wired into him...eye of the tiger

ReplyDeleteROCCO dont kid yourself mate. Although Rogan is undoubtably a decent guy, thats not why he didnt finish sexton off. I personally think he was f****d after punching himself out going for the KO or stoppage (which,under the circumstances, was the right thing to do)pure and simple. I still think he was hard done by but im not accepting that 'hes sound and didnt want to hurt him' argument that many people offer. The guy was just knackered after giving it a go. Fingers crossed for him on friday anyway

ROCCO.Every single thing you said there i agree with 100%. That was my point. One clean shot would of finished it bit he was f****d after giving his all. Couldnt agree with you more bout Haye too. He comes across a personable enough guy but iv my doubts whether he can fight 3mins a round for 12 rounds, which hes gonna have to do to win, especially in germany. Theres a question mark on his stamina. Having said that, Valuev is a big pudding and was beat by a 49yr old Holyfield, an ordinary Chagrev, and twice by Ruiz,neither of whom is any bigger than Haye. Those guys were all robbed. He might need a KO to get a draw.

Mike Tyson insists size doesn't matter in the ring ahead of David Haye's showdown with giant Russian Nikolai Valuev.
ReplyDeleteThe British heavyweight is hoping to come away from Nuremburg with the WBA belt despite conceding almost 10 inches in height to his opponent.
However, during an interview with Sky News, Tyson feels the outcome would come down to each fighter's state of mind, rather than any physiological advantage.
And the former champion, who has arrived in the United Kingdom ahead of a promotional tour, feels Haye can be victorious - provided he believes that Valuev is beatable.
"It's not necessarily the size of the guy; it is basically the spirit, the competitiveness in his heart," he said.
"If the guy wants to fight he can be 4ft 2 and still fight a guy at 6ft 9. If you want to fight you're going to fight and you're going do well. It's just the average of the law in the sport of boxing.
"It depends on Haye's psychological opinion of the other fighter. It's all about the fighters' psychological opinions. If this guy feels this guy is beatable, he's beatable."
In an extended chat with Sky News' Dermot Murnaghan, Tyson also dismissed any chance of him making a return to the ring at the age of 43.
Indeed the man known as Iron Mike is not even interested in where he stands on the list of all-time great heavyweights, with his main focus now being his duties as a father.
"It's a matter of opinion over who you like. I like Larry Holmes, I like a lot of guys," the American added.
"To me being the best is not that important any more. When you're a little kid being the best is important.
"I'm now at the stage that I want to feed my kids, take care of my kids."

we can take no more excuses like "its not all about winning trophies".I know Arsenal have no trophies in the emirates trophy room but at least they look like winning something although they probably will not because they always buckle in the big games but we are awful.Wish Utd had have beaten us.What have we to do to get rid of this manager.The club is in such a state i dont even think jose mourinho or martin oneill would join us.Rafa must go!
